Autism Prince Albert

Autism Prince Albert - Autism is a neural development disorder which is characterized by impaired communication, social interaction and by repetitive and restricted behavior. These characteristics commonly present before a child is 3 years old.

The affects of autism would impact the way nerve cells and their synapses connect, organize and communicate their information in the brain. In is not completely understood how and why this takes place. There are 3 recognized disorders in the autism spectrum: Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified, that is usually abbreviated as PDD-NOS, and Asperger Syndrome. Asperger Syndrome lacks delays in cognitive and language development. PDD-NOS are diagnosed when the full set of criteria for Asperger Syndrome or autism are not met.

There seems to be a strong genetic basis for autism. The genetics of autism are complex. It is unclear whether these conditions are explained by rare combinations of common genetic variants or more by rare mutations. In several situations, autism is strongly linked with agents that cause birth defects. There have been debates surrounding proposed environmental reasons including heavy metals and pesticides. At one point there was concern concerning childhood vaccines although this hypotheses is biologically implausible and lacks strong scientific evidence.

Statistics place the prevalence of autism at around 1 to 2 people for each 1000 people throughout the world. Within the USA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that approximately 9 out of 1000 children are diagnosed with a type of autism. Ever since the 1980s the number of people diagnosed has significantly increased. This could be partially because of the changes in diagnostic procedures. It is hard to determine if the actual prevalence has increased.

Parents would often start to notice signs of autism within the first 2 years of their child`s life. The symptoms will gradually develop, whilst various kids would initially develop more normally and after that they regress. Early behavioural therapy or cognitive intervention can help autistic children gain social skills, communication skills and self-care.

There have been several instances where children have recovered, though there is no known treatment. Several people believe that changes to the diet and the avoidances of some environmental additives and chemicals will help to treat this particular condition. The majority of kids with autism do not live separately when they reach adulthood, but some have become successful.

Autism has many characteristics that are highly variable. This neuro-developmental disorder initially appears through infancy or childhood and usually follows a steady course without remission. Various indications appear about 6 months of age and after that become more established by age 2 or 3, and can continue into adulthood. Autism is characterized by a triad of signs comprising: restricted interests, communication impairments, repetitive behavior and impairment in social interaction.
